Month of Modern Knows How to Party!
Well, another great Month of Modern has come to an end – our ninth, in fact. Thank you to the 300+ design enthusiast who joined us for the social event of the season: the Month of Modern Wrap Up Soirée. We had such a great time!
This year, we took the party to Boulder Theater, and had an amazing time mingling with friends old and new, sipping on cocktails & beer, noshing on delicious food, and dancing! Big thanks to YEUX, who came all the way from Austin, Texas to to throw down and make the dance party happen! Will is a Boulder native and put together an amazing musical and visual experience for us! Boulder Ballet and Frequent Flyers provided stunning dance and aerial performances between DJ sets, and we couldn’t have done any of it without our outstanding backstage crew, who made sure everything ran smoothy.
Aurum Home Technology provided the perfect, ambient, chill-out lounge. And, there were a couple reasons why you wanted to drop your business card into the bowl: (1) a ticket for a free MOM-tini, and (2) the chance to win a SONY 55” BRAVIA XR 4K HDR OLED with Smart Google TV. Brad Weeks of Blue Spruce Construction was the lucky winner of the TV.
The Awards
For the last 3 years, we have tapped Todd Reed to design the Month of Modern Design Awards. Todd is a luxury jewelry designer, true artist as well as patron of the arts – and an obvious pick when asking someone to design an award for other designers.
During our The Creative City Kick Off event on September 2nd, attendees received a ticket to vote for the board they liked best. The boards were converted into Corn Hole Sets by Hammerwell and auctioned off at The Wrap, with proceeds going to our Non Profit Beneficiaries. Renata Hromadkova of Treesky Ecoarts was the big winner of the People’s Choice Award, taking home a beautiful chalice designed by Todd Reed.
Another award designed by Todd Reed was granted to one home on our Homes By Architects Tour that took place on September 24th. Month of Modern asked Historic Boulder to grant a ‘Landmark of the Future‘ award to the home that best exemplified the criteria considered when determining whether a building is worthy of being a landmark. It was exciting to have 6 contemporary homes to show to the public—leaders from Historic Boulder evaluated the homes and determined that the house known as ‘Ludica’ by Arch11, best exemplifies the qualifications.
A surprise came with a visit by AIA Colorado CEO, Mike Waldinger, announcing the AIA Colorado ‘Firm of the Year’: HMH Architecture + Interiors. This Architectural Firm of the Year Award recognizes the continuing collaboration among individuals in a firm who have produced distinguished architecture, and made significant contributions to leadership in the profession and their community. HMH is humbled by this honor. Thank you to our clients, colleagues, staff and communities for collaborating and making an impact. Design matters.
Big Thanks to our Event Sponsors!
